Thank you for helping us by sharing your story of growth and resilience at Northland College to inspire others to support the Giving Tuesday Campaign on December 3, 2024! Follow these simple steps to record and share your video.
Step 1: Prepare Your Story
Reflect: Think about your Northland story and how the College and community have helped you grow or overcome challenges. Examples might include: A class or project that inspired you, support from the Northland community during a tough time, personal or professional growth through an internship, research opportunity, or extracurricular activity.
Keep it Short: Aim for 30-60 seconds.

Step 2: Record Your Video
You can record directly to ThankView on your desktop or mobile device.
Make sure to film horizontally so you fill the frame.

Start with an Introduction: State your name and your connection to Northland (e.g., "Hi, I’m [Your Name], a junior majoring in Biology." Or “Hi, I’m Professor [Your Name], and teach [Primary area of focus].)
Tell Your Story: Share your Northland story, how has your experience helped you grow or demonstrate resilience. Bonus points if you can connect to the campaign’s theme by mentioning “Rooted in Resilience: Let's Keep Growing!”
End with a Call to Action AND say Thank you: Example: “This Giving Tuesday, join me in supporting Northland College and ensuring more stories like mine are possible. Thank You!”
At a minimum: Look into the camera and say “Thank You!” with a big smile. We will use these clips for a thank you video.
Step 3: Record with Quality
Lighting: Make sure your face is well-lit and the background is tidy. Natural light works great!
Sound: Find a quiet space to record. Speak clearly and confidently. Keep your device close for good sound quality but far enough away that you are the focus. Try 3-4 feet.
Location: Consider shooting in a location your recipients may recognize.
When recording with a phone or tablet, use a tripod or prop it up with something like books for stability. Try not to hold it.
